Alexandra Jacobs

About Me

I was born at Bideford in north Devon and having lived outside of the county for most of my life I have now returned to the Westcountry. Currently I paint for my own exploration and many people find a connection to my work. In the past I have engaged in public art and private commissions, teaching and commercial work.

I am an academician and trustee of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts.

I would describe myself as a colourist painter.  I love the changing light on the landscape.  My favourite time of the day is that magical moment at last light when everything appears to intensify and stand still.

My interior spaces are about places we inhabit and our half forgotten memories of being there. These are the most abstract and lyrical of my works, they are often prompted by everyday objects. The absent figure in the painting is the viewer who brings their own interpretation to the painting.

Please note:

If you are interested in purchasing a painting Alexandra would love to hear from you.  She can tell you about the painting, it's availability and discuss postage options. It is advisable to view and collect larger works; all paintings can be framed for collection if required.
